Some customers are running into challenges in updating projects with our beta feature Add a Page.
A 500 error when trying to set up a new project
A bad match for a competitor (topics or categories that don't match)
You can't change your primary keyword* after using "Find Competitor For Me."
These issues seem to happen more with pages that don't rank yet for competitive keywords. (Or they rank for only a few keywords) These pages seem to be triggering that error more than established pages do. It seems like a temporary issue, but this workaround should help you while we address it.
Workaround to Get More Control in Your Project Setup
Start over with your "Add a Page" choice, but do not use the blue button. Instead, have your own competitor page ready, and choose the "Enter Competitor URL" button instead. That should give you more control over the project you set up.
How to Find a Good Competitor Page
It's important that the manually selected competitor is one that ranks well for the target keyword. If you need suggestions, go to SpyFu and search the keyword. Then, click to SERP analysis for a list of domains that rank well for that term.
Take any of the URLs that closely match your targeted topic, copy the URL, and past it back into RivalFlow after you click "Enter Competitor URL."

*Note: If you use "Enter Competitor URL," you get the option to change the competitor, but not the primary keyword. This is expected behavior.
